When choosing your wedding venue, there are quite a few factors to consider. #AnnaBeBride Jenna and Steve took their love of the West Coast into consideration when selecting a San Diego wedding venue that was special to them. They also planned other wedding weekend activities that would allow them to share their favorite city’s spots with their favorite people.
GARDEN WEDDING VENUE IN SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA
Their Balboa Park wedding charmed guests with its beautiful gardens and picturesque terraces. This iconic San Diego wedding venue is a favorite spot of Jenna’s and a place Steve has grown to love over the years. Their simple garden wedding ceremony at The Prado took place on a patio facing the edge of a lush tree line. With guests being slightly elevated and the aisle breaking off to a breathtaking overlook, this unique ceremony was just one of the many memorable moments of their timeless Southern California wedding.
Not only was their terrace ceremony breathtaking, but so were other features The Prado’s Casa del Rey Moro Gardens boasted. From a reflecting pool to a wishing well, this premier San Diego wedding site was lush and full of interesting and exquisite works of art.
BEAUTIFUL BALBOA PARK COCKTAIL HOUR
Jenna and Steve’s cocktail hour, taking place in a polished courtyard, was stunning. Their guests shared the space with a historic fountain and lush Spanish-inspired gardens. Mingling while listening to an instrumental trio and sipping on drinks in the shade of the setting sun and towering palm trees, this chic cocktail hour was just the start of their magical evening.
LIGHT PINK AND PURPLE BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES
While the flowers at the ceremony and reception consisted of vibrant yellow and orange hues, Jenna’s bridesmaids wore more calming colors such as dusty pinks, mauves, and neutrals. The array of pale-colored bridesmaids dresses and distinct styles complimented Jenna and Steve’s wedding invitation color palette and other subtle accents throughout the day.
EMBROIDERED ALEXANDRA GRECCO WEDDING DRESS
Their glam garden wedding at Balboa Park wasn’t the only thing in bloom, Jenna’s stunning ‘Oleana’ wedding dress by Alexandra Grecco was covered in chic floral lace embroidery.
This intricate square neck embroidered bodice led to a sleek silk crepe skirt. Matching the top’s dainty details, the clean fitted skirt had a lace slit cutout covered in the same lace embroidery and sheer tulle.
This whimsical wedding dress was the perfect mix of modern and elegant. We love the different fabrics and fun design. Jenna completed this romantic bridal look with small golden accessories and pearl accents.
BALLROOM RECEPTION AT BALBOA PARK
After cocktail hour, guests entered The Prado’s Grand Ballroom and found their seats. Each table was beautifully decorated and centered around a large dance floor. Spending the evening listening to the 9-piece band, everyone was blown away by this splendid ballroom space and the special touches Jenna and Steve planned.
Ending the evening with drinks, Jenna’s something borrowed was a Shotski she made for her sister’s wedding. “A Sopfe family tradition to honor our love of the mountains” Jenna states.
BRIGHT FLORAL WEDDING CAKE
Much like Jenna’s floral fit-to-flare wedding dress, their wedding cake was bursting with a fun flower design. This three-tiered wedding cake was traditional, except for the bright pop of color the flowers provided. Desserts are an easy way to add an unexpected touch to your wedding evening and fresh flower wedding cakes are always a good idea. What says garden wedding theme more than fresh cut flowers?
