Shopping for Guys

Men's shopping in Denver might sound like an oxymoron to you. Indeed, we're not as fashion-driven as some other towns, and looking for something original can be tough when it feels like the major department stores are catering to clientele who might be twice your age. If you're looking for classic and timeless, higher-end stores in the mall will definitely take care of your "black, blue or brown" needs, but if you're looking for distinctive, unique, and fun accessories, look to these two online sources, and two local boutiques

Barney's

One of the most comprehensive designer stores for men spanning the huge range of the luxury market, this is where you can find anything from $10k cufflinks, to a $30 pocket square. But as long as you stay away from anything with diamonds, most men's accessories are surprisingly reasonable, like these Paul Smith cufflinks and Ferragamo tie, both a very small splurge for the fellas.

Taigan - Douglas Fir

From New York to LA, this celebrity-loved designer menswear store might be just a little more off the wall, paying tribute to the most casual coast. Oragami bow ties, John Varvatos shoes, and enamel animal cufflinks (you can't make that stuff up) are combined with bespoke suiting. Sometimes priced for celebrity budgets too, it's the perfect place to find one incredible stand out piece, or finally buy the investment suit and accessories that'll take you through your major formal events for the next few years.

Metroboom and Soul Haus

For those of you looking to keep in local, two great indie menswear shops have survived in downtown Denver to make them institutions, though they remain more or less unknown to many men in Denver. Metroboom just across the pedestrian bridge on Platte Street is your barber/stylist/suiting/accessories mecca, offering custom shirts and ties, small runs of unique accessories from young designers, and consulting services for all your styling needs. Soul Haus sits on the other end of the spectrum, rockabilly and rough, the younger, punkier vibe balances some hard edge (with killer t-shirts!) with truly unique apparel and accessories you can't find anywhere else. Usually just one of each size of an item is brought in, and once it's gone, it's gone for good!
