if we may (if we aren't being too forward) we'd love to take this opportunity to suggest a new year's wedding resolution for the bride-to-be in 2011 (and beyond):
stop being mean to yourself. forget the diet and start forging a love and appreciation for yourself. yup, it's a little cheesy, but we're privy to a lot of body-griping and we'd love to start hearing more brides who are ready to flaunt what they've got.
we know that a wedding puts a lot of pressure on you to look your best and be the star of the show. we understand that, yet we want nothing more than to help build a culture where we embrace our "less than perfect" bodies and focus on other more important things in life: like the fact that you are about to marry the love of your life (just one example that comes to mind). we aren't saying that we all shouldn't get some exercise everyday and eat healthy (because we should), but what we are suggesting is that for every thought you have about how much you hate your "big butt" maybe think about one thing that you do love about yourself (like your beautiful eyes, your wit, your strong arms, your great friends, your curvy legs or how smart you are or...).
so here's to to a great 2010 and an even better 2011! happy new year!
